I've been having issues with file sharing on my 2009 Mac Pro. Using Go>Connect To Server>Browse from my MBP, the MP simply won't show up. I get the same results when doing the same thing from the Pro. I have file sharing turned on on both computers. I got SSH to work once, but have tried about 3 or 4 times since with no success. Bluetooth is also spotty, but from my experience that's pretty normal for BT file sharing.

The specs are 2009 Mac Pro 2.66GHz quad running 10.7.5, and my other Mac is a 2008 MBP 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo that's running 10.6.8

I did add a 3rd party WiFi card as soon as I got the Pro, this model: http://www.ebay.com/itm/140868444358?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

It's not an official apple Airport card, but the wifi works perfectly fine so I'm not sure if this is what's causing the issues or not. Is there anything I'm missing here?

EDIT: I should mention the WiFi card is the same model Apple ships in the 2011 iMac, so I doubt it could be the problem

Hello,

Can you try another mac on the same network?

Can you try your mbp on another network with another mac?

Did you check in your router's settings if you or someone else closed some ports?

Loa

Thanks for your response. It's a home network and I set up the router and no ports are closed. These are the only two Macs I own, so I haven't been able to test it out with any others until I can convince a friend to maybe bring theirs over sometime. Next time I'm on another network with another Mac I can try my MBP, but I don't know when that will be. It's obviously a very minor issue, but extremely frustrating as I'm often moving files between my two Macs. I'd much rather be able to file share over my network rather than having to use a USB drive every time.
