file sharing on iPad

is anyone else perplexed at Apple's decision to limit the iPad's ability to share files amongst applications? I just don't understand why they would choose to so dramatically limit the power and functionality of the device in such a fashion.

Perfect example: DropBox for iPad. The app is great, I think it's a game changer, except for the fact that I can't resync a file with DropBox from the iPad. So I have this mobile device which combined with the cloud, allows me to access my files wherever I am. Only problem is that any changes made to those files are not re-synced. Anyone able to shed some light on this issue? Think DropBox will be able to address it in a future update, or is it an Apple issue? And if it's an Apple issue, what are the chances of it being addressed?

Does this issue even bother anyone else, or is it just me?

Not just you. I was trying to get a file to dropbox earlier after creating a file in Pages. I gave up, probably too tired. With MobileMe you can email a file to yourself, but it is hardly smart nor cheap. I closed my MM account today and will not reactivate until iPad integration occurs seamlessly. I just cannot fathom the thinking....

I emailed the DropBox team and requested that they include an import feature, allowing us to import files from email. Further, I hope Apple is implementing an "export to file sharing programs" feature that will allow us to export to Air Sharing, Goodreader, DropBox, etc... Those two features will make the iPad a viable work machine, even more than it is now.

Each application gets its own private directory and Apple prevents other applications from accessing it as a security measure. For example, it stops a developer from putting in code to access your financial data from another program. Getting around this is simple though, just jail break. You can then access all the directories and move files around at will.
