Is there an official application to allow file storage on the iPhone like a Flash drive thingie something like that?

Yes, official meaning via the App store and not requiring jailbreak.

Filemagnet is just what I was looking for. Except one small thing, I have Windows! POOP! I hope they add support soon.

isn't there one that's either currently out or coming out soon that requires zero software on the computer to work? you just run it and it automatically shows up on your desktop (mac) or something like that. i feel like i remember reading something about it somewhere but don't remember much about it...

That should be the one you are talking about but I think I may have also read about some other one also that was going to cost $15 instead of $7 like this one.

No real file management yet.

What I want is simply "Finder" for the iPhone. Let apps interact with files. Install Documents to Go (in my dreams!) on the iPhone, copy .doc and .xls files to a "folder" on the iPhone, and open my files with any application - like Doc2Go - that can read them. Just like with any other operating system.

They don't have to give my access to the OS files, but I want a hierarchical file management system where I can put files.

I wish they'd stop treating the iPhone as a multimedia toy, and create an OS for it like the highly capable tiny personal computer it is.

I use DiskAid - http://www.digidna.net/diskaid/

It's not an "iPhone" app so you won't be able to open or see the files within the iPhone interface. It lets you use your iPhone as a hard drive to transfer files between computers.

Interesting program!

Why Apple doesn't enable disk support in the iphone is beyond me. This was an excellent feature when I had an ipod.

I would also LOVE to see Docs to Go on the iPhone, for the fun of it I went to DataViz's site to see if they had anything in the works for the iPhone and I found this page: http://www.dataviz.com/customerservice/iPhone_support.html

I clicked the feedback link and begged them to start working on an iPhone version but I'm sure the more response they get, the more likely they are to work on it so go, tell them you want it too!!! :)

I'd really like to see it too so I sent them a message! I think everybody that wants it should send them a message right now.
