Is it possible to transfer a Keynote file from an iMac to the 2017 Ipad using the Lightning cable directly attached to the iMac?

I’ve never transferred a keynote file, but I would imagine you could drag and drop through iTunes.

You would have to use iTunes.
AirDrop would be easier though.

I cannot use AirDrop with the mid2010 iMac i have! :(
What exactly do i do with iTunes?

I feel like I should know this, just have not used a cable for any sync'ng in 7 or 8 years.

I would start a server on my Mac, host the file, connect wirelessly using iPad and download file that way.

Connect iPad to iTunes, Authorize as prompted on '10 iMac, select "TRUST" on iPad when prompted.
iTunes ... select icon at top-left-hand corner of iTunes for the iPad. Left side menu ... you'll see File Sharing.
Select, and therein you'll find Keynote and ability to sync that file to your Mac.

Cheers.
