This is getting old. I download a certain podcast as *.mp3 that's not yet available in Podcasts (it's too far back, I've been listening to them from 2004 on to today, currently at 2016 and the Podcasts app doesn't go earlier than 2017) and I expected Files to work similarly to the My Files app on my Samsung Galaxy S5, but apparently it's got some sort of 'storage sense' like Windows 10 and arbritrarily keeps removing files from my device (it syncs to iCloud drive) shortly after I download them.

Today, I downloaded a set of podcasts as MP3s to listen while at work (they help me focus) this morning around 7 AM. By 2PM I decided to listen, but they were no longer on my phone! In fact, since I got ZERO service at work (shows 1 bar of 1x, or no service at all) I had to live without them.

This also happens less than an hour after I download them. Yesterday, I thought I'd download a couple to listen to at a park to help relax after work. They were gone by the time I got there (literally an hour later). Thankfully in that instance I had LTE and could download them AGAIN.

Sorry, I don't mind files backing up to the cloud, but I don't keep them there where I need internet to use them. I always keep my files on my PHONE. I know, it's odd but I also hav 1,000 songs in my pocket since they're all on my phone. I don't do streaming. Is there a way to keep them on my phone? I looked in settings but there are no settings specifically for 'files' app. Phone is iPhone 6S, running iOS 14.

I suppose once I get to the 2017+ podcasts I can use Podcasts as I should, but until then I hate it arbritrarily deleting my files, making me download them twice--once through Safari, second via Files.
