Files locked in a 32 bit app under iOS11

Hi, I pointed to these forums as a potential source for help my huge problem:

For a couple of years I’ve used a app called “Downloads” to download and store my files. Since I updated to iOS 11 it doesn’t work anymore. I have since learned it is because it’s a 32 bit app.

Is there a way to get to my files? I have two older iPhones available which may be of help? I was wondering if I should maybe make a back-up of my current phone, than empty one of the old iPhones and then loaf that back-up to the old phone that is running a older firmware? Would/could this work?

I really hope someone can help out, since some of those files are super important. I thoight it was all safe since iOS backed up the app and it’s content in iCloud.

You have to email the developer to re-compile the app for 64bit. There is nothing much you can do about it apart from finding a replacement.

To get back your files, can you connect your phone to iTunes and see if you can copy the file over to pc using file syncing if your Appp ahows up in the list?

Worth a shot - make sure you restore from a backup on your computer, though.

That won't work since iOS 11 backups only work on iOS 11 which won't allow access to 32-bit apps.

You need to get an older than iOS 11 backup that has the file and restore that to a compatible version of iOS.

I would try this first, before the restore to 10.3.3 everyone else is suggesting. If you can see the files through iTunes, it might save you a lot of time.

They made it more of an annoyance to manage apps that can sync files via iTunes in iTunes 12.7, but it's still doable from the phone menu under 'file sharing' I believe.

I assumed he had a backup from iOS 10.3.x... Otherwise, yes, his best bet is to use iTunes.

Thanks for all the replies! I borrowed a laptop and tried the file sharing thing, it’s now copying to a external drive, I hope the files are all in good shape.
