Okay, this is REALLY annoying. I've had this happen 2 times now. I have a folder on my desktop that pretty much stores all of my files. I had it somehow delete itself once before. I restored it from a backup, and now, the folder is there, but ALL files in the folder and subfolders are gone. WHAT THE EFF?

I hate to say it. I've NEVER had this happen on my PC.

Anyone have any ideas?

It would help people assist you if you would tell us at least what Mac your are using and what revision of the OS.

That would be helpful. Also, that is why apple made time machine, to prevent lost files.

I have backups...thats not the point. Files should not delete randomly....

Could be many things. To name a few:
Bad RAM
Failing hard drive
Some kind of trojan/virus? (not likely)
Someone deleting them on purpose

How to narrow it down though?

I've got SMART Reporter running, and it's still verified, so I would assume it decreases the chance a lil. As for the Bad RAM, I did a hardware test, and it came back normal.

Odd....
