I decided to migrate from Dropbox to iCloud Drive (not sure it was a good idea anymore) and copied all my files from one to the other on my Mac.

A number of files were uploaded properly, by many of them see to be on hold with a "waiting" status below the filename:

I noticed that for these not uploaded files if I rename them, they then start uploading.

I have left the computer on for over 12 hours and I don't think there is any movement. I have decent enough broadband - 12Mpbs upload speed - and yesterday uploaded a 4Gb file to iCloud Drive in about an hour; and what I am pending are small files which altogether are about that size.

Anyone know how I can trigger the sync in a better way than renaming each file individually?

Note: I definitely have enough storage on iCloud to store all these files.

Anyone?

I really wanted to move to iCloud Drive but still haven't sorted the issue. Looks like I'll be staying with Dropbox ...

Same problem here. I'm using El Capitan (10.11.2), but I've always had trouble with iCloud Drive in OS X not uploading new files to the cloud. It's very intermittent/slow.

I didn't have that issue, but I had other issues with iCloud so that I abandoned it. It messed up the file system and then backups failed. Apple had no interest in fixing it.

Before that, I used ownCloud without problems, but I didn't want to continue hosting myself.

I moved on to gdrive, but that one also doesn't work, it has severe synchronization issues and breaks down.

It's very strange to me that all the major commercial cloud storage offering are so inferior and untested, compare to the standard open source ones.

Were you happy with dropbox before?
