I'm about to get my new 7,1 and I wonder if I should use FileVault or not. Currently I don't use it on my 5,1.

If I use it, shall I format the SSDs as APFS encrypted or only APFS?

Thanks for any kind of suggestions on this in advance.

There's no need to have FileVault turned "on" because T2 does on-the-fly encryption regardless, unless you like typing an extra password on start-up.

Is the T2 also encrypting "external" drives, I mean not the boot drive itself?

When do I need APFS encrypted?
