Last week I came across a pair of old TravelScanPro-scanners I used in my office nearly a decade ago.
Tried to hook them to my iBookG4 but obviously there haven't been any drivers provided for Macs at any time.
A few weeks ago I purchased a copy of Windows2000pro to be installed with VirtualPC7. Compared to WinXPpro the virtual Win2k does really run smooth and integrates nice into the environment of my iBook running Leopard. So I connected the TravelScan scanner to VirtualPC and Win2k and was happy to see, that the Scanner was detected as a plug&play device and installation of drivers was accepted without any hassle.
Even if there are more modern and faster technologies to send pages to someone else (just taking a picture and send it via email to someone else only does take seconds....) this workaround makes my iBook a pretty nice fax-machine to sent a fax to a group of people which I have to do from time to time.
Now I'm able to scan with IrfanView within virtual Win2k, make a printout to PDF which is directly saved onto my mac's desktop. From here the PDF can be send with PageSender to a selection of recepients that can be choosen from the mac's addressbook.
Happy New Year to everyone!
