iPhone Filter unknown sender

Does the “filter unknown sender” work for you guys?

I have enabled it on my 6S with iOS 13, but I never see it working. On Messages app, I now have “unknown sender” tab, but nothing is sent there. Even obvious messages from phone numbers not in my contacts are all are still piling in my inbox.

Am I misunderstanding this feature?

I have these messages going to my unknown senders list but I believe if you’ve ever replied to the unknown sender, it then becomes a known sender and goes into the normal list

The "Filter Unknown Senders" only works for iMessages. At least that was my understanding after reading the description under that setting.
