I am a proud owner of Final Cut Express 1, but lately have not been very proud of my software.

This has happened on two computers, my MDD PowerMac G4, and my 12" Rev B PowerBook G4, which both run Mac OS X 10.3.3 What happens is I will be happily editing away, and saving every now and then, and then I will quit, then, another time, I will open up Final Cut again, and all will be well. But after about 25 (estimated) openings of the program, It will load some of the windows, and then unexpectedly quit.

I have tried deleting all related files, and re-installing the software, but that does nothing, on either computers. The only thing that works, which I try to avoid is reformatting the hard drive, re-installing the OS does not accomplish anything.

If anyone has a fix, I would much appreciate it! :D

I try not to respond to questions when I have no direct knowledge, but... didn't Apple release any updates to FCE 1.0 (ie. 1.1 or 1.2) before releasing 2.0 (which is now at 2.0.3)? You may want to get your hands on the updates if there are any.

mmmm....

Well, in order to even run Final Cut Express 2, I would have to go buy more RAM, I only have the stock 256. And that would mean money, $200, and I need something faster than that, if possible.

Anyone got a solution?

I had a problem with FCE 1.0 crashing on me when it was loading. It would do the splash screen, bring up the windows then crash. This was only when I didn't have a camera connected I believe. But I ran the update and it fixed it. Try those as mentioned above.

fixed

I looked at that Apple article, and it said to delete the pref file, I did, and it loaded fine. I need the patch now.

I was under the impression that there wasnt a patch for it. But I got it now, thanks guys (and/or girls)
