Final Cut Express 4.0.1 Update

Is there ANYWHERE I can still download the Final Cut Express 4.0.1 updater? I just re-installed Final Cut Express (which still seems to work in El Capitan) to throw together a quick video, but out of the box it won't work with the AVCHD 1080i video from my camera. I know it will work with the video from this camera after updating as I've done it before.

I just wasted (not kidding) 1.5 hours hunting only to find dead and fake links. The official software update method doesn't find anything, forcing it via the command line no longer seems to work. Apple does not seem to list it for download, yet they still have release notes posted and the older older 3.x updates available.

The only thing I can think of at this point is to attempt installing an 10.6 (oldest version I still have) on an external HDD and trying there, but I have a feeling that won't work either.
 
Finally got it to work. Still wouldn't update in a 10.6 virtual machine, but I dusted off my G5 and was able to get it to manually download via software update service.

Could you say a little more about that approach? I'm running OSX 10.10.5 with Final Cut Express 4.0, but apparently some of my original projects were done on another computer in 4.0.1 which is now unavailable. I get the following error using the Softward Update Tool:

Software Update Tool
Copyright 2002-2012 Apple Inc.

Finding available software
FCE401-4.0.1: No such update
No updates are available.

Suggestions?
 
Ah ha! Thank you so much -- you're a memory saver. With all gratitude, I put it to you: why would that be so hard for Apple to do?

I have just arrived right now and I have the same problem than the other users. Could you upload it again?
So time ago the 4.0.1 worked but one day died and now I need it again and I only could install the 4.0.

I am in the same boat as everyone else, but my computer was stolen, got a new one and the 4.0 version I loaded will not open my 4.0.1 projects and cannot find an update, will you please re-post for me?
I bet you are getting tired of it, but you would be a lifesaver if you would re-post, link was dead when I clicked on it.
