Final Cut grid/guides?

Anyone know if there is a way to drag out guides or a grid in Final Cut 3's video window?

I'd like to align some graphics but I need a common point to align them on. Seems like i've seen screen captures that show guides in that window, but I can't find anything in the manual about it.

The best FCP can give you are the title/action safe areas. If you've seen grids the were probably made in PS or AE.
