I know that FCP 2 to 3 is a bit old, since 4 is out, but I just discovered this problem. Awhile ago we upgraded from FCP 2 to FCP 3. The problem that I have is this. After installing FCP 2, I install the the FCP 3 update, but I get this message: "Registration Error (2). You must have a registered copy of Final Cut Pro installed. Please reinstall Final Cut Pro from its original CD, launch it, and complete the registration screen before running this computer." The problem is that FCP 2 is not supported under the Classic environment. (Or at least that is what it says.) And the new iMac that I am installing it on is an OSX only booting machine. No more OS9 booting.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a work around for this? I know I could get the upgrade for FCP 4, but right now the budget does not allow for it. Thanks for your help.

Man, that sucks... I just was playing around yesterday and FCP 2 isn't classic supported... you might have to contact Apple... not sure if they thought of that when they made Macs OS X boot-only...
