I read a tip on this in Mac Addict I think. It basically involves importing the clip into iMovie and then saving the project. What you get is a version of the tune that FCP will use.

I have no idea where the article is but you should be able to figure it out along those lines.

Rip it to MP3 or just burn it to disc and bring it in as an AIFF (better than recompressing it as a MP3.)

(Just remember that using that music is not for free use even though you paid to listen to it. You need permissions from the studio/distributor/artist to use it in a movie that will have any kind of distribution. In otherwords, it's not royalty free.)
