I'm encountering a strange issue when I select a clip and go to the inspector to change the crop. When I click on one of the parameters and then then use the up or down arrow keys to make an adjustment, often it will change by 6.7px at a time instead of 1.0px. I have to use the drop-down menu at the top right of the crop section and select "Reset Parameter" to get it to go back to changing by 1.0px. How can I force these settings to ALWAYS and ONLY change by 1.0px at at time when using the arrow keys for fine adjustments?

Try holding down the Option key when you make adjustments, that often gives you finer increments (as it does for volume, brightness, etc). I don't have FCP so can't check it myself, give it a try.
And, "point-7" pixel is kinda hard for me to wrap my head around...

Holding down Option while using the up/down arrow keys adjusts the crop by 0.1px unfortunately, not 1.0px.

I'm more trying to figure out what's causing this 6.7px increment. Again, I know how to get it back to 1.0px increments, but I shouldn't have to fiddle with this each time. I'm hoping I can find the source of the issue.

I've never seen or heard of any parameter changing in that bizarre of an increment. No clue what's going on. I only know of ⭡ and ⭣ = 1px increments, ⌥⭡ and ⌥⭣= 0.1px increments, and ⇧⭡ and ⇧⭣ = 10px increments. No idea when or why it would ever do anything else. Maybe try trashing your prefs. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Well I've deleted the library files multiple times before - the prefs are contained in that I believe. The issue persists.

I think, @lin2log is referring to:
The file is located in the following location:

/Users/username/Library/Containers/Final Cut Pro/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCut.plist

  1. In the Finder, press and hold the Option key, then choose Go > Library.
  2. Locate the settings file (named “com.apple.FinalCut.plist”) in the following location:
    /Containers/Final Cut Pro/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCut.plist
Alternatively, you can go to Finder > Go (menu) > Go to Folder… then enter or paste this path
Code:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.FinalCut/Data/Library/Preferences/

To Reset Final Cut Pro settings, Apple instructs this method rather than (the old school approach of) deleting the preference file.
You can reset Final Cut Pro settings to their original values.

  • Press Option-Command while opening Final Cut Pro.
Final Cut Pro resets the settings and adds a file named VideoAppDiagnostics-FinalCut to the desktop, containing a record of your previous settings.

Thanks! I did the option-command method and so far so good, but before it would work right sometimes too, so I will see how it goes. If the issue persists, I will report back.

well . . . that didn't last long. Now one press of the up or down arrow keys is changing the crop by 10.8px! I've not changed any preferences at all! This has to be a bug.
