I just bought a MBP M2, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. Final cut pro is running very slow on my computer. I was getting the rainbow pinwheel yesterday when trying to edit a basic 720p video. The 2019 MBP that I had handled final cut pro better than this new M2 I purchased. I am so frustrated. Any tips?

Thanks!

Are you using the lastest version? If not what version are you using? Also where are you videos stored? SSD? Harddisk? Something else.
We need more info to be able to help you!

OK. Perhaps the HDD is just not fast enough. Try putting some files on your internal SSD and check if it goes better. HDDs are not ideal for editing.
Personally I am having my clips on a HHD but it is a fast RAID system. On the other side I have the FCPX cache files sitting on the internal SSD and my Library files on a very fast thunderbolt SSD. This allows me smooth 8k editing on a MBP M1 Max.
