Final Cut Pro Transitions

This isn't a rumor, but I hope someone will be able to help. Unfortunately, Apple hasn't been able to answer my questions.

I'm new to the Mac platform (Quicksilver G4/733) and love it. I seem to have outgrown iMovie/iDVD and am considering the big jump to a more "pro" level software.

I've looked at Premiere/After-Effects, but no one seems to like them. That leaves me with Final Cut Pro/DVD Studio Pro.

A big thing for me is transitions - can anyone tell me how many transitions come with FCP3? Apple can't :-(

Other than Borris, are there other 3rd party plug-in vendors?

Sorry if my questions are basic, but I appreciate any answers.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken, you can use After Effects with FCP...just so you know.

I can check at work on the number of transitions on Monday, if no-one gets back to you sooner...

FCP has a **** load of transitions. and you have full control over all of them. Not like in iMovie were you have 1 cross dissolve and can only control the length of it. Believe me you will not be disappointed with the number of transitions as well as the finite control over all the aspects of the film. In all seriousness how many transitions do you really need. Unless your purposely making it look cheesy your probably only using. Cross dissolves, Dip to colors (Fade in Fade out), maybe the occational ripple if it fits the film. etc......

Thank you for answering. It seems that FCP is what I'm looking for....more control over the project.

Here's a technical/legal question.....are you allowed to purchase 1 copy for desktop and use it on your laptop also? Or are you required to buy 2 copies? I mean I know you can't give it away and the like, but most software allows for 1 desktop/1 laptop combo (even Microsoft).

I think you can buy 1 copy and use it on your laptop and desktop...
but legally you must only use 1 at a time . For example you using the desktop & letting someone else use the laptop at the same time is would be against the terms and conditions of use.
