iPod Final Thoughts on non-iOS iPods

I'm assuming Tuesday we will discover the fate of the Nano, the Shuffle, and the Classic. Here is what I think will happen:

iPod Shuffle - discontinued.

iPod nano - significant price drop, and maybe a 32GB option. 8GB $99, 16GB $129, 32GB $149

iPod classic - discontinued or a capacity bump to 320GB.

We know that iTunes no longer sells click-wheel games for the Classic, and that no parts have leaked of any new iPods.

What are your thoughts?
 
If they discontinued all the iPod classic games, maybe they are doing an iPod touch + classic hybrid. (Thicker multitouch iPod with 128 GB storage)
 
Redesigned Nano with some killer feature to push for the holiday season. Classic and shuffle will stay exactly the same and still sell.

Seems right


I really hope that if the Shuffle is discontinued, Stores will clear it off shelves with 50% discount, that way I can get my hands on one!!
 
If they are discontinued, I imagine there's a ton of stock still to be sold. I think they'll go in the clearance section of the store at low prices. Like the last generation Macbook Airs right now.
 
I can see the Shuffle getting discontinued and the Nano moving down in price to take its place. I think the Classic is either going to stay as it is or get discontinued. I don't see any upgrades for it. I have seen 240GB replacement drives for the Classic, but I don't know if they will go to the effort to upgrade.
 
I think classic and shuffle will be dropped, the shuffle more likely than the classic.

Nano may get a price drop, but apple has an awesome reputation of keeping their stuff expensive, I think the starting price won't be anything less than $129.
Don't care about storage, but I do want the clip over the camera.

Touch will just follow the iPhone5 and get spec upgrades, and integration w/ iCloud.
 
iPod classic will probably be discontinued. Nano and shuffle will stay the same. We'll see for sure in 15 hours.

As far as keeping the iPods, this is really the only realistic situation.

I just really hope the Classic stays a little longer. I really have no use for iCloud for my music. I would find it cumbersome to keep re-downloading music to my iPod. Why can't we just keep it simple? Even if there is a 128GB iPod touch, it will cost around $450-$500. What's the point in that?
 
I hope Cook says something like, "There's been rumors that we're killing the iPod as a dedicated music player. Let me make this clear: we' re never killing the iPod."


And the crowd goes wild.

Not that part, the part about the classic and shuffle staying put and the nano getting some sort of upgrade to hype it up for the holidays.

My expectations are the Nano stays around for a while, the classic is going tone canceled once the touch gets up to 128GB and the shuffle will stay around a little long, until flash prices are cheap enough the Nano can get into the sub $79 price.

I'm expecting the touch will stay around for quite a while, it does a good getting iOS into people hands who otherwise couldn't get them.

That would be awesome! As would a 320Gb iPod Classic.
