Yeah keep on trying guys, I got on the server about 5/10 minutes ago now, it's now "Restoring iPhone music and videos..." thankfully.

Took me 3 hours and what felt like a million network timing out errors.

Got mine done finally after about 5 hours (combination of trying and not). Everything works. Still think I should be mad, but it's hard to stay mad once you've played iPint.

I got mine to active, but now get a couple of error dialogs when trying to restore the backup.

An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-36)

and immediately follwing that,

The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.

Anybody else? Any remedies for this issue?

i have the exact same problem! have you been able to fix yours??

Work around

What I found was that certain music files would not upload; however I do not know why. My solution was to not allow those files to be synced and the rest of the files would go. This took several iterations as I would get so far, and find another file, need to demote it, and restart the process.

It's great you found a solution. How exactly did you edit what would restore and what wouldn't? How would you go about demoting?

Thanks

In iTunes, there is a check mark by each song file. Uncheck that mark and that file will not be synced next time.

To determine the files I needed to omit from the sync, I watched the sync to see which file it was failing on. When I found a file, I unchecked that file from the sync.
