Haven't been around in a while, but thought this was as good a reason as any to check in.

I bought my first 20" iMac (first apple computer, too) in Jan 06 when Apple started using the intel chip. I instantly fell in love. I couldn't believe that I'd been on a PC for so long. And adamently so.

2 years later, at new release time I wanted another one... a new one. But I didn't buy. My iMac was fine. And on and on... an Apple TV, MacBook, multiple iPods and an iPad later... I found myself coming up on my 5 year anniversary (this Jan) and thought... it's time to do the deal.

So I just bought this config:

IMAC 27"/5750/SD

With the following configuration:
• PROCESSOR 065-0056 2.8GHZ QUAD-CORE INTEL CORE I5
• MEMORY 065-9452 8GB 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM - 4X2GB
• HARD DRIVE 065-9455 2TB SERIAL ATA DRIVE
• GRAPHICS 065-9457 ATI RADEON HD 5750 1GB GDDR5
• OPTICAL DRIVE 065-9458 8X DOUBLE-LAYER SUPERDRIVE
• MOUSE 065-0214 MAGIC MOUSE+MAGIC TRACKPAD
• ACCY PACK 065-9908 NONE
• REMOTE 065-9502 NONE
• IWORK 065-7672 NONE
• FINAL CUT EXPRESS 065-7674 NONE
• APERTURE 065-7673 NONE
• LOGIC EXPRESS 065-7675 NONE
• FILEMAKER 065-8307 NONE
• MICROSOFT OFFICE 065-8198 NONE
• KEYBOARD & USER'S GUIDE 065-9943 WL KB & USER'S GUIDE
• COUNTRY KIT 065-9500 COUNTRY KIT,IMAC 27-INCH

I know I coulda saved about a hunge by buying 3rd party memory (I did this with my first iMac) but I wanted this thing to arrive ready to go. I'm SO excited. I can't wait for my new baby to arrive. It literally feels like I'm waiting for a new baby to come into the family.

Yeah, I have a problem I guess. Hahahahah.

Even better news is-- I really didn't NEED this. My first gen intel iMac is still chugging along fine. This was a complete "it's time" buy-- it's not based on anything other than it's been 5 years since I last bought. So the old iMac will get cleaned up (externally and internally) and put into the kid's room. They're already apple kids using my current iMac and mom's MacBook, but now they'll have their own.

Very, very excited!

Sorry for the rant. But most of you know how I'm feeling and I'm sure will excuse it. ;)

Congrats, I was the same, super excited!

I had a whitebook for 2 years and then a unibody macbook for 2 years... the whole time craving an iMac.....

and I finally got one and it is amazing! :)

Nice one!

I'll be getting a new 21.5" iMac just before christmas. Can't wait to get rid of my PC! :p

Congratulations....

And do yourself a big favor, avoid the forums for a few weeks after you get it.
It will only breed dissatisfaction as you discover real or imagined defects that may or may not exist. Give yourself a chance to make up your own mind.
Best of luck,
Cheers.
