It looks like the iOS 8.1 JB is now stable and ready to JB.. I have been waiting since I updated my phone. I have backed up my phone to my Mac, but will be using my PC tomorrow to JB.

What all do I need to turn off? Does touchID/Passcode still need to be turned off prior to jailbreaking? I read that Cydia's most recent update works with touchID.

Also, do I still need to download Cydia from the Pangu app?

I did a backup to iTunes, disabled touch ID lock/passcode lock, disabled find my iPhone, set airplane mode, and jailbroke..... no issues.

Cydia is installed as part of the jailbreak

Back up your phone

Restore as new and do not make a password or Touch ID nor log in with a email in I tunes.

Set it on airplane mode

Run Pangu 1.1 and wait for it to do its thing. Pangu will install Cydia and the Pangu app. After this restore your iPhone from the back you had created before restoring the phone as new.

Will I be able to back up my phone on my Mac and jailbreak from a PC? I'm planning on using my mom's PC just to JB.

Yes. That is exactly what I did.

What apps are you going to use? Can you please check how much RAM iOS8.1 is using with no apps running?

Not sure if this helps. But while running XBMC My ram was at 90%.

is there a need to do full restore as new ip?

This greatly reduces any issues that could occur.

i just jailbreaked with pangu 1.1 straight stock (backed up just in case)
did NOT restore
did NOT disable touch ID/passcode
did NOT airplane mode

successful JB. so far no issues

I put my phone in airplane mode but didn't restore, also completely forgot about Find My iPhone/Touch ID... Didn't disable, but my JB is still working great :)

Of course, obviously it makes sense to follow what the devs say, but just wanted to give my experience in case anyone has a moment like mine, haha.
