Hi everyone

On friday I finally got the Macbook I'd been eyeing up for a couple of months - I went for the black 2Ghz Core2Duo model and by and large I'm thrilled with it however I've run into a couple of problems that I'm hoping you guys can help with:

1) iTunes - all my music is sat on a SMB share on a file server - I've set iTunes to consider that share to be its library and copy stuff into it as its being imported which is all good (and how things are set up on my Windows desktop). The problem I'm having is that first of all the initial import took *forever* (30gig of stuff imported without copying took 6+ hours) The culprit was the gapless playback sweep that iTunes does after the import - this was extremely slow and took up the vast bulk of the copy time. The other problem I noted was that editing tags was an extremely slow process too - upwards of a minute to apply changes. Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how I can fix it? (music must remain on the network share though - a lot of computers access it.

2) Front Row - works fine for the most part however the bulk of my use of Front Row will be patched into my HDTV and unfortunately playback through TV only works if the laptop screen is on - if its off theres no output of video to the TV - the Front Row interface is visible and the sound plays, but theres no video output, either in the preview screen or on full screen playback. I've hunted around some and while I can find lots of reports for the problem noone seems to have a fix out there - any ideas?

Thanks in advance

D

How is the TV hooked up? I sometimes use FrontRow on my MBP with the laptop screen off. If your TV is recognized as an external display, it should work without a problem.

Hooked up as VGA with Mirroring turned on (since Front Row only works on the primary display).
