Had to post that after 2 years of waiting for my money to be right, new models to be released and freezing issues to be resolved, I FINALLY ordered and recieved my new iMac. I ordered it with regular shipping and it shipped from Shanghai to Alabama in less than 3 full days! Wow! It was scheduled to be delivered on Friday by 10:30 and arrived on Thursday BEFORE 10 am. Nice! I had it up and working in less than 5 minutes (love macs for that) and no freezing. Thank God! Then, Leopard. WOW! How OS X has changed since Panther. Love Spaces, Photo Booth, and the new keyboard. I ordered the 24" with 2.8ghz Extreme processor with 2gb of ram, 750gb hard drive and 750gb external. So far, WONDERFUL!! If you're still waiting to order your new iMac, STOP! Go get one now! They rock!

Good for you! Congrats ;)

(no screen issues? ;))

Congrats, I just got mine last night as well. 24", 2.8, added 4gb ram. just trying to figure out how to set mine up since I've never used macs, only windows.

Congrats on the new machine! I echo your "New iMac" sentiments; after waiting for similar financial conditions to align properly, I got mine (a 20" 2.0GHz) on Sunday at my local Apple Store, and I'm quite impressed.

Funny you should mention Photo Booth. I let my 4-year-old daughter play in front of the camera while running Photo Booth, and she had a blast. A quick testament to ease-of-use: In less than three minutes and with no explicit training, she was changing the effects and taking snapshots all by herself.

xwing, glad to hear about your setup. I hope you enjoy it. I just upgraded from a mac mini (1.83ghz 2GB ram) to a 24" 2.4GHZ 1GB iMac. So far I truely love it. I've read some discussions about the glossy display and my personally love it. The colors really "pop" for me, and in my office the reflection is not an issue.

I have a quick question, I'm running 10.5.1 and Fusion allotting 512MB to it. So far everything seems to run great, but what do you think about additional memory for the iMac??? Will 1GB suffice?

THANKS!!

First post btw.

Thanks for all the congrats! It feels like I'm back in the fold! It feels good to be syncing my iPhone to a Mac instead of my old HP pc! Ugh! Never again!

DXTC, that's cool about your daughter. I have a four year old nephew who's autistic and doesn't talk much, but he can do ANYTHING on a PC or Mac. Kids today just get it and I think they get Macs better. It's just SO much more intuitive than a PC.

Cheapa55, it was hard when I had to convert about 4 years ago, but you actually have to dumb down to use it. What takes 6 steps on a PC takes 1 on a Mac. Once you learn to get out of the way and let the Mac do it's magic instead of controlling everything it works wonderful!

Jeff0628, It'll probably do fine, but it will run much better with at least 2gb of ram. Mine's doing everything quickly with 2gb, but if they get slow, I'm moving to 3gb, maybe 4gb. But not now. Everything feels VERY snappy right now! :)

I'll probably go ahead and upgrade the ram soon. I've never heard of anyone regretting having too much ram!! LOL... As for now, I can't wait to get home just to set in front of that 24" screen! My only regret is that I didnt move to the mac sooner.
