Removing encryption would help. The other problem with that phone is also throttling. The CPU is nice and quick for not a very long period of time before being throttled thanks to really bad thermals.

I know the 6P is probably too big for you but it's much better than the 5X.

The size isn't the issue. The price was. Over here, the price difference was $200 dollars and I just couldn't choose it.

I'm currently using a 5X and 6P, these two are stellar. Running Android 6.0.1 they're fast smooth and wonderfully glitch free. In fact, the 6P has been serving as my favorite, primary smartphone even though my iPhone 6S Plus isn't bad.

It's my preference, I love the Android UI, with its highly useful notifications and widgets. With the Nexus lightning fast trio of on screen capacitive buttons rather than Apple's old slow analog button, it's so much faster.

If the rumors ever come true and Apple adopts modern capacitive buttons in place of the rather vulnerable clumsy big button they've clung to for years, iPhone users will realize what they've been missing.

I do realize that many here on an Apple forum reserve the word "Lag" as an exclusive label to bash Android with, but I've not experienced even the slightest amount despite the heavy ongoing daily work load I subject mine to.

I'm so satisfied with my 6P that my plan is to take a wait and see approach, rather than pre-ordering any of the upcoming phones as I usually do.

I never found the Nexus 5X laggy at all. I experienced slightly more lag on the 6S. I bought it to test out and to make a review on. However, I am looking to get it again to keep and use as my DD. The 6P is to big for me.

Ensure you have the March update. That update made major improvements to performance.
