I'm sitting here in Afghanistan and I've been keeping the Mac mini page up on my computer every day until I couldn't take it anymore. I purchased the 2.5ghz i5 with the AMD graphics. I've been wanting to upgrade my 2008 C2D since the 2010's came out but new the CPU's would eventually make the jump to core i series. I'm still surprised at how my 2.0ghz C2D ran multiple apps including aperture and photoshop and iMovie as well as serving as my media hub for my appleTV. But I'm now upgraded both my laptop and mini to i5's and both with the thunderbolt I/O for whenever those external drives come down in price.
I'm going back to school after this for a computer science degree. I hope I'm able to use my Mac as a Mac and not have to install windows. I have installed on my Macbook Pro but I never use it. I have it "just in case".
Side note: I'm supposed to be taking a day long class on this program called "Palantir" that the military adopted for a short term (I hear we are dropping support for it at the end of the year). Everyone tells me it's being widely used in the civilian work force by consulting firms, etc. Just curious if anyone here has actually heard of it or used it before.
