Finally great change to CarPlay

They finally made a great change to CarPlay in 17. It’s not perfectly executed but it’s a lot better. Prior to this update when you were using Google or Apple Maps and a text message came through, when you listened and replied to a text the entire screen would go blank and you couldn’t see the maps. And if you use it you know it’s a long process to read the message, reply and then they repeat it. Good chance you could miss a turn, now the maps stay up and there is a smaller overlay. Android auto has had this a while. I am happy to see it

And the phone’s screen…and the driver display (if your car has one). Funny how an incoming phone call is still treated like THE most critical function regardless of what you’re actually doing.

Well, I find it hard to believe they didn't think of this. I'm sure one priority of CarPlay is to minimize potential accidents. When you get a phone call, the idea probably was just to give you the option to either accept it or dismiss it as quickly as possible.

Crossfade also works with CarPlay, which is nice.
