Finally learned....changing cycles

I was not happy with the new IPP 11 especially verses bang for buck......and with latest IOS 12 this iPad Pro 9.7 has become better to use, so I sent everything back.

I am now firmly on the side of people that kept saying ALWAYS wait for the “s” version (second release of model) so to speak....no more first edition models for me....thank you to them that kept telling me this....now to get my phone to the XS and have that on second cycle too, although I do like the X much better that new iPad release.

Yeah, not me. I'm very happy with my 9.7 to 11 upgrade.

Keep in mind that Apple occasionally deviates from the “tic toc” cycle (Apple Watch is an example, but it happens with other devices as well), and always updating in a “toc” year means updating every two or four iterations when the cycle holds. So what do you do when your device dies right before a “tic” new device announcement? Or do you just plan to update every two device iterations regardless of whether you need to, just to keep on the “toc?”

I used to have this philosophy, but now I just update when I need a new device.

This was my conclusion when I finally reordered an 11” Pro. iOS 13, 14, 15 ... can only make it better.

Exactly, with each update to iOS the experience will improve. The iPads are not held back by hardware as evidenced by the new ones. The software is where they are lacking and where I believe the iPad will never replace a computer

The only duff iPads have arguably been the iPad 1, iPad 3 and Air 1.

Every other one has been more than capable of lasting many years.

After some initial reservations about the 11”, I’m now delighted with it.

Well done! It’s just I found it crashy, unstable and annoying due to lack of ram.

-Pause podcast, do something else, press resume...podcast app flushed, defaults to music, grrr.

-Everything constantly refreshing and reloading. Copying incomplete text before leaving Safari when doing something else briefly as the tab would flush before you go back and you’d lose the text.

This happened on the 6 Plus too.

iPad 3 has a bad rep, but always found that just slow (and heavy). It was stable, the two things above didn’t happen.

I actually went about 8 months without an iPad at that time. I’d sold my previous iPad, sold the Air 1 and waited impatiently for its successor. In hindsight, I wish I’d gone iPad 2 to 4 to Air 2.

Yea I don't see any issues with the current Pro's, but whatever makes you feel better about your buying decisions.

There really is no S cycle when it comes to iPads. They are now on a year and a half update cycle, and the changes from one iteration to the next have been fairly significant. If your happy with your iPad 9.7 that’s all that matters.
