Thanks for all of your help in this forum in answering all of my questions regarding the latest imac.
I have been a pc user my whole life and after my computer went on me I decided that I should consider the possibility of using a mac. I was just fed up with troubleshooting the pc, fixing the registry, running countless spyware/virus tests, and especially having music programs and video not be compatible and spending countless hours figuring out what to do.
After 1 month of research and stalling because of being petrified about some others issues regarding their Al imac purchase I read online, I finally just bit the bullet and hoped for the best purchasing a 20" 2.0ghz. Aluminum imac. I figured that the odds were probably in my favor of not getting a lemon because Apple would go under if the lemon count was high. The reason for getting the lowest end is that I figure if it lasts then I will be confident in Apple.
Although I only had my computer for a little over a week, I have to say that Leopard is by far the best operating system I have ever used. My main reason for saying this is because when click on a program the thing just works.
I plug a camera in and it works.
I want to chat online and it works.
I want to use photobooth and send a 40 second email of my daughter to my in-laws. I click one button to record and stop. I then attach it to an email. It takes all of 2 minutes. It works.
I want to download videos and it works. Granted I crashed imovie twice, but I also am still running on 1gb and was uploading 40gb of video off my Sony HDD Handycam.
The interface is simple to use even though I was a pc owner. It doesn't take much to figure out as it is the most organized system I have used. Even pictures and video get downloaded into categories and thumbnails pre-organized-unreal!
As for gradient issues, only when the screen is blue do I see a top to bottom difference, but I can't be certain. It may be the way I am looking ant my lcd because all other times it is not noticeable.
Lastly, the glossy screen. I guess I am not a designer so it doesn't bother me. It is no different than the older tube televisions. For example, in daylight, you will only see a glare if the screen is black. Other that that the display is adjustable and you will have no problems. Let me put it this way. My mac is in my kitchen with the screen facing a window. In addition, my kitchen is the brightest room in my home. And I have a bright home.
So if you are someone who has been on the fence like me and want an Al imac to use for internet, music, movies, watching television online, typing documents, putting together small home video projects, pictures, and video chatting, and want all of this to be done with no compatibility issues or other problems, then I suggest you put some serious consideration into an imac. But please research first to make sure all of your hardware will work-no mini-dvd's.
Hopefully no major problems arise for me
But if they do, I am happy you all exist.
