I finally took the plunge and ordered the MBP!

here are the specs

MacBook Pro, 15-inch, 2.33GHz
Part Number: Z0DQ
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
Accessory Kit
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
MacBook Pro 15-inch Widescreen Display
160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
SuperDrive 6x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

I'm wwitching from a sony vaio, so I look forward to it :D

and while I wait for my MBP, I wonder:

1. What is a good set of Bluetooth mouse/keyboard? or any cool bluetooth devices in general?
2. What is a good antitheft program? ie. lojack vs undercover?

the ATL
so it looks like it has a estimated delivery date of nov 17th  wow that's a long wait

If it's any consolation, mine had an estimated delivery date of the 14th of November. And it's presently in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the FedEx depot there.

1) Depending on your wireless carrier, (T-Mobile,Cingular, and other GSM are good about bluetooth) you can get a phone that supports Salling Clicker, which allows you to control your Mac via your phone.

2) There are applications that use the tilt-motion sensor in the laptop's HD, and you can set them to make car-alarm style noises when someone moves your laptop while the alarm is on. Also, there's an app that uses the iSight to take a picture of the thief.

Welcome

yeah, I can't wait =) this will be my first mac ever

Congrats!! and Welcome.

My MBP is my 1st mac. I wouldn't change a thing. I wish I would have "woke up" a few years ago. I always liked the hardware.. but I wasn't too keen on the software.
Since the Intel chip came out I thought this would be the time. Now the software isn't like I thought. I have bootcamp & Paralells & almost always use the mac side.

to hang with the post.. I use the BT keyboard (mac) & the BT Mighty Mouse. I bought the keyboard from the "marketplace" on theis forum.

Again good luck & have fun
