I downloaded couple of apps which is related with managing my expense. I think that 'pennies' is the best by far. it has nice interface. you can set the monthly budget. when you keep spend money, gauge just like fuel gauge in a car head down to empty. I don't have to explain all of it. just see for yourself. it costs $2.99. it is worthy to have. here is link.

I downloaded Pennies and it is pretty nice. I just need something that knows what I spend and lets me know when I am going over budget. I hate having to enter what I spend into a program.

I've been using it for 3 days and I love it. It's simpler than other finance apps, but that's exactly the point.

Just like Time Machine made backups simple on OS X, Pennies makes tracking daily expenditures simple on the iPhone

If I had something more complicated, I'd probably stop using it eventually. The fact that it's so straightforward means I'll probably keep up with it. And that's the important part.

Looks like a really nice app with a nice interface. I am using Budget right now, and where it WAS lacking, they just had an update and am VERY happy now. its a lot like the pennies app with entering purchases.. Budget is a little more expensive, and i THINK if i knew that pennies as equally as good, i might not have purchased budget.. i dunno.

The news that it rounds to the nearest hundred on your monthly budget and doesn't allow you to edit category names, etc., has kept me from downloading this one at this time. I'll wait to see what an update brings.

I bought it and it's not too bad at all. I wasn't taken by the other finance apps on offer. It's certainly capable and I'm hoping the suggestions in this thread (i.e. Severe above) and in the reviews are implemented. Very nice interface and graphically very pleasing.

My only concern with these apps is that you're at the mercy of a system lock up and restore. I've already lost a lot of data I had in omnifocus when I had to restore and reinstall my apps (three times now). I'd hate to have to do the same with this after adding my expenses everyday for a few months. Hopefully this won't happen since 2.0.1.

p.s. Nice little surprise touch in the first months budget . I really appreciate attention to detail like that.

I've been using iXpenseit to manage travel expenses. To me it has everything I need. Budgeting feature is coming soon in an update so you can track allotments with expenditures.

This is not the first time I've heard this before, and I still don't understand it.

Do you buy an app based on an expectation of possible future updates? Do you factor that into the price? Don't get me wrong; I'm just curious, not flaming you. I only mean that I buy an app for its features right now, not on features I hope might perhaps come someday.

Is there a clause in Apple's SDK agreement that requires posting updates to one's apps?

Unfortunately that's a problem with Apple's update process. I'm the author of another budgeting app and every time I post an update I get a few emails about how people have lost their data, even if they do everything exactly right and nothing appears to go wrong. I'd probably get more complaints if not for the entry explaining the situation at the top of my FAQ page.

Okay, I searched around for a bit and found nothing to back this story up.

How can you come onto a forum and basically bad-mouth this app and then run off without telling us why it is that we should all have a serious hate-on for the developer? At least provide some clue as to what the heck you are talking about.

Pennies is a pretty fantastic app IMO, and if there is some moral reason why I shouldn't use it I want to know. It's not fair to just criticise and run like this.

Does pennies allow data from 2 iphones to be consolidated together? I would like any app that can track my household expenditure where my wife and I enter our expenses on our individual iphones and it'll be sync together.

Anyone know of an app that does this? Thanks.

This is one of the only apps that I bought and still use. It tracks my expenditures... that's it. And it does it so nicely that I actually bring it out and use it all the time. Really nice piece of work. I like that I can export everything to a tab delimited file. I'd love a desktop client, though. I don't even mind if it is in the same vein as Disco; I quite like Disco and other simple apps that do something well. If you want something more complex for a desktop client, then Quicken or MYOB. I imagine this falling somewhere near Squirrel, but with syncing to Pennies for iPhone.
