I really want Financial Calculator app on my iPhone. It will be great if it could replace my HP 19BII. Or even just simple TVM function would be great. Does anyone know if any company is making FIN Calc app? :confused:
 
i don't know, but i'd gladly pay a decent amount for a good financial calculator app. I'm sure it is possible since they have a scientific calculator and also there are about 5 "loan" apps out there. I ended up paying $1.99 for one of the better ones so that i can have a basic financial calc function, but it is limited. don't know if all of them are like this, but the one i have doesn't hold the last inputs so it always defaults back to the default values. Since it isn't a calculator, you can't do any calculations before inputing in the variables. Makes it very limited. better than nothing though.

This is an app that I would really love to see. I use a 17BII.
 
TVM or HP 17B ii emulator?

I really just want a simple program that does Time Value of Money (TVM) calcs, but what I would really love would be a HP 17b ii emulator for my iPhone. Any recommendations on either would be most appreciated. Thanks!
 
Can you describe in simple graphical terms what you would want your TVM calculator to look like?

I have no plans to download nor read some huge HP manual for a "simple" app.

One I did as a quicky for the PalmPilot simply had down payment, payment, periods, interest rate, and future or present value. No first month offset.
 
You and I are the only one's who know what a 19BII is. It's the best financial calculator ever. Unfortunately, the 12C and it's reverse polish calculations took over. There are plenty of TVM calculators in the app store, but none that can do more complex financial calculations.

i still have my trusty ole 19BII from my college days so i too know that the
19BII is indeed the best financial calc ever. the reason for the popularity of the 12C probably has to do with the fact that it's only one of two calcs (the other being a TI calc) that is acceptable for use during the CFA exam as well as the recommended calc in collegiate finance courses

i love my 19BII.......mine is in perfect working condition 15 years after I've purchased it except for some cracking in the battery door (which was a common problem with the 19BII). otherwise it is a great and durable calc that has served me well over the years and continues to serve me well.......as well as my 12C :)

There is a 12C-style calculator in the App Store.

And RPN is much more efficient. And it's parenthesis free! I still think infix notation calculators are much more common, but I would love to see postfix (RPN) calculators "take over". :) It may seem "awkward" at first, but after you spend just a little while learning RPN, you'll quickly become a fan.

I have this one.

A bit expensive and lacking in functions compared to the 12C.

It also has some nice display features that the 12C doesn't have. You can see these on the app store pic.

I am hoping that the developer improves the app provided enough folks purchase it so it makes the effort worthwhile.

RPN entry is the best.

PCalc is another nice calculator that let's you do both entry methods.

Seems reasonable. For the FE/PE exams, they only allow the HP 33s or 35s (ignoring TI, etc.), even though many may own the 48/49/50 series.

The top row of arrow buttons access dynamic functions that appear on the screen as you drill down through "menus."

While I really want a full HP 17bii emulator, I am willing to settle for a TVM calculator. Did you port the one you wrote for Palm to the iPhone? Is is in the App store?

The first link up there from RLM is the one that i bought. It is the best 12C emulator in the app store right now. The other link from Stone Meadow is an INCOMPLETE emulator, because it's missing all the bond calc functions as well as the programming functions. Also, if you read the reviews, it doesn't even do interest calculations correctly.

The RLM version is awesome, you can view all of the registers including stack, finance, programming, etc.
 
19B II Invaluable

I too have an HP 19BII that I still use almost daily and would love to see it replicated for the iphone.
 
Just to revive an old thread, I see HP have now released their own versions of the 12c and 15c calculators. Actually, I took it one step further, and d/l the 15c simply because I had to have this on my iPhone. So glad to have this beaut back in my pocket.

With it being the original code, having the full manual and a lovely interface, despite its high price, this was a welcomed purchase.
