Looks like this still needs a little work. After a 30 minute drive to work listening to a Podcast via my AirPods. Find my Airpods still showed last known location as my house yesterday afternoon. Hopefully Apple can tweek this to work correctly. Find my Airpods could be beneficial, but it needs to be accurate.

How can it be accurate when it has no gps? You want accuracy, attach an external GPS + 3g transmitter to it and carry that everywhere.
Because it's connected to the phone

How does Find My Apple Watch work? Idk, maybe it's connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth, that also has GPS

It WAS connected to the phone... if ios keeps tracking airpods location all the time, with a high accuracy, you'll complain about battery life and provacy issues.

Once it's disconnected, it's only going to show the approx. PAST location of where it was last connected. Obviously, it's not going to be pin-point accurate.

WOuld it not use the same amount of battery as the other 'Find my Stuff"? Not really looking for Pin Point accuracy. But, being more accurate than a day behind and 8 miles is not asking too much.

Mine are not showing up in the find my iPhone app. Is this another US only feature?

Well first of all nobody knows since Apple doesn't disclose that. SEcondly, FMF doesn't run in the background all the time. so even if your find my airpods had logged the location, it's not guaranteed to be exactly when the airpod was disconnected. It could have been 10 minutes ago, and you may have already driven from home to work.
