So I had a major panic on Friday just about to leave the office when I couldn't find my AirPods, I checked their last location on the Find My app and noticed the last contact was in the morning and their location was showing around the train station, great I've left them on the train then!

However, imagine my surprise on Saturday morning when on emptying my backpack they had been in there all along, in a rather small hidden pocket...phew!

But considering this backpack had been under my desk at work all day, then on my person travelling around, how come my iPhone failed to check in with them at all?! As soon as I opened the lid on the case Find My updated straight away

Agree, Find My is nearly useless for Airpods, as it only works when the Airpods are out of the case AND have a bluetooth connection to a device (or the last time they had a bluetooth connection)

The useful thing is the ability to have it emit a tone. But it still has to be out of the case to do that.

That will be an advantage for Airpods Pro. Do you know if it will work if they are in the case?
This is what was said at the Apple WWDC event,
"With iOS 15, you can locate your AirPods Pro and AirPods Max using the Find My network. Your AirPods simply send out a secure Bluetooth beacon that can be detected by other Apple devices. They can relay your AirPods' location to the network and then back to your Find My app. And if they're nearby, just choose Play Sound. Listen for the chirp, whether they're in their case or out."

The worst. Literally right next to my AirPod pros (in the case) and FindMy has no idea where they are.
