Find my iPhone Confusion

I am not sure if anyone has any suggestions or insight into this problem, but recently a random MBP has been showing up under my devices when I log into find my iPhone.

I always securely wipe and restore all systems before selling or trading in. Is it possible that this is a glitch on apple's end? I cannot believe the idea that someone else is logged into my iCloud account as I have noticed no irregularities or problems.

I have removed the device from my list but it reappears when the computer comes back online.

Thought or suggestions would be appreciated.

It might be because you used an install of OS X linked to your account when formatting the computer before sale. I seem to remember reading that this happens if that is the case.

Does it look like a MBP you previously owned? This can happen if you did not turn off Find my Mac on that machine before you wiped it.

Logon to iCloud.com and go to Find my Mac and click all devices at the top. Then select the oddball device and at the bottom click remove from my account and that should make it go away.

I have removed it numerous times from iCloud, but it just comes back on my list. I have owned several MBP over the years so it is possible that it is a used one I sold but as I mentioned before I always do several HD passes and reinstall OS before selling. I may be a bad person because I have considered just wiping it too, although I am not sure if it would let me since I don't believe my iCloud is logged in.

I don't think it matters that you wiped the old MBP before you sold it. As I understand it, the issue is you did not manually turn off FMM on that machine before the wipe so that is why it shows up. But yeah... removing it from iCloud should do the trick.

Edit: Hmmm... I just checked iCloud.com and there is a 27" iMac listed there I no longer own (from two years ago) and it was never there before. Maybe something odd going on with FMM and iCloud.
