Hey everyone,

So I've just come across this issue, and maybe someone can shed some light. I did a search, but didn't find anything on it.

I jailbroke by 3GS from 3.0 to 3.1.2 using PwnageTool 3.1.4 a week or so ago. My AT&T signal was lost, which I replaced easily due to the 'cosmetics' of it.

However, I think this issue is more than purely 'cosmetic'. I tried locating my iphone through the "Find my iPhone" feature in MobileMe, and I received an error saying that my iPhone was not connected to a data network or does not have push enabled. I have checked my Push settings, and it is indeed enabled.

Can anyone else use "Find my iPhone" with a jailbroken 3GS with the no network signal issue from using PwnageTool? Is there a fix for this? All the "fixes" I've seen have been cosmetic in nature. I did read on the dev team wiki that if you get this then you didn't jailbreak properly, but I'm sure I unchecked the Activate my iPhone option when asked.

Any thoughts?

It could be that you used the improper method while making the ipsw with Pwnage Tool. When I did it with my AT&T iPhone, it popped up asking if I use iTunes to Activate my phone. I put "No" thinking I would outsmart it by not updating my baseband, but I too got no signal. I re-jailbroke it selecting "Yes" I active with iTunes and my signal came back.

Might seem like a daft question, but got to start somewhere. I'm assuming you have 'Find My iPhone' enabled in the device settings?

Works ok

On At&t iPhone 3gs 3.12 jb no problems with find my iPhone.
Was able to also send a test message.
I am not using any tethering patches at t he moment.

Yeah, I have it enabled. :p

As far as the jb'ing process, I selected No because it's an AT&T phone, so it shouldn't have to hacktivate it?

Ok, just had to ask.

For your MobileMe account, what have you got push enabled on? Also, have you tried turning that option off and on?

While not a 3GS, it works fine on my 3G

I have push enabled for everything.

Used Pwnage tool and did not check the activate box.

I did not check the activate box either. Weird, I guess I'll try again and see what happens. Everything was working great besides the find my iphone.

There are three constants here:

1) If you are using an official iPhone carrier sim you have to uncheck the activate phone box. If you are not on an official iPhone carrier sim, you have to check the box to hacktivate. Doing it backwards, either way, and you will get no signal

2) If you have kept the lower 4.26.xx baseband and you update to 3.1 or 3.1.2 firmware, the older baseband will not correctly report the carrier info to the updated firmware, so the carrier logo does not get installed. If you have the updated 5.11.xx baseband, the carrier info gets reported correctly.

3) If you activate your phone with an official iphone carrier sim, push will work. If you hacktivate it, push will not work.

I do have the 4.26.08 baseband. I wanted to keep my unlock available for future resale until the 5.11.xx baseband is unlockable, which right now, it isn't. So there's nothing I can do to get Find my iPhone/Carrier info updated and working? I am on an official AT&T contract.

Options: Update the baseband to 5.11.xx or there is a cosmetic fix, but it is only cosmetic.

I have no experience with Find my iPhone, just giving you some info relative to your replies.

Right, I know that there is a cosmetic fix. I already have that which I mentioned at the beginning. I was just trying to get my network fixed so MobileMe could see my iPhone and report its location in case it got lost or stolen. The DevTeam didn't mention anything about the 4.26.xx baseband not reporting it, and only said that if you didn't upgrade properly, the network information wouldn't be available. Thanks though.

I have 3.1.2 running with the 4.26.xx baseband and my Find My iPhone is working correctly.

I didn't hacktivate mine. I activated using a legit SIM, and then unlocked using Ultrasn0w.

Have you tried deleting and then re-creating your MobileMe account?

Hmm.. just tried that and it just removed my iPhone from the MobileMe Find My iPhone feature...

Anything you did differently?

No. To be honest, I didn't have to do anything to make 'Find My iPhone' work after jailbreaking and unlocking.

The only other thing that I have done is use a custom IPCC file to set APN settings on my device. I can't imagine that would make a difference tho.

If you jailbreak your phone the simple route and not expert, push notifications should be working as well right?

Mine isn't working. Activated through official ATT carrier and jailbroken phone simple route.
