I just noticed in find my iPhone app that there is someone else's macbook listed. I've definitely never signed into my account on someone else's laptop, nor do I recognize the name. It's currently showing as offline but is there anyway to get anymore information on this person or computer besides in this app? Also, assuming whoever this is, may have had access to my accounts?

I've also noticed signing into the web it shows it as a device i'm signed into... assuming the same device but I know for a fact I had signed out, and formatted the hard drive completely.

There is an option to remove the device via Settings > iCloud/yournamehere.

Or sign into appleid.apple.com and remove the device from your account.

Or, if have a computer, go to icloud.com and remove the device there.

That one is different from this one, which a device shows up on his find iPhone page. It is for activation lock.

I know how to remove the devices on the apple site where it shows currently logged in. My issue is that I'm concerned how it is even signed in to begin with & trying to find out who or where the location of the device is before I sign it out.

its clear that someone has yr id and password.

since that's a serious situation, i'd want to stop it immediately. and worry about how it happened later.

i'd remove it, then change my password immediately.

with 2 factor auth on, I figured I would have gotten alerts when signing in...

I'm waiting to see if the laptop comes online so I can erase it from Find my Phone before I delete it from my account.

Have you ever sold a MacBook? Could you have forgotten to completely sign out of iCloud before selling it?

I did sell it, but i signed out and formatted the hard drive from disk utility... rebooted to make sure and it was the initial setup screen... that's why I'm so perplexed.... could the computer still be listed on the apple site till manually removed?

My old devices still show up even though I removed from find my phone and signed out and formatted. Figured that was normal, haven't checked since I sold them though.... lol. Doing so now.

Edit: Correction, they don't show up anymore, but they used to for awhile.

Is it literally someone else’s MacBook as in it says like “Charlie’s MacBook” but your name is something totally different. R does it just have a generic “MacBook” and did you have a MacBook at some point. Because unlike phones and iPads there’s no requirement to remove a ‘find my mac’ when signing out so you could just be seeing your own computer. I would sign into iCloud.com and see if it shows you the serial number of the computer. See if it’s the one you have now and it’s a phantom duplicate or something you had and gave away/sold and it’s a phantom of that.

Seems like it can. I found the same thing and had done exactly like you did. But when I go to the appleid site, it's still there. I removed it.
I wasn't real worried since I am gifting that laptop to my granddaughter but was surprised to find it still listed on my account.
