Ever since I updated to iOS 15, Find My has not been working like it should when it comes to tracking the location of people on my list. According to the update it is supposed to show continuous streaming updates, but instead it takes very long to update anything. It doesn’t even search right away. It sometimes takes several minutes to update… and then several minutes more to update again. Huge step backwards. Anyone else? It does this on both my iPhone and iPad Pro.

Are the people you want to track also on iOS15?

For me yes, both on iOS 15. Sometimes I even see it showing "Live" but no position at all on the map, just a green background and no address

It comes and goes for me, sometimes I get continuous streaming updates, and sometimes it only updates sporadically. That said, I always thought it had more to to do with the quality of the cell signal or WiFi... the signal isn't the best in my area.

One thing I've noticed about Find My's live location tracking is that if the device you're tracking has a low battery level, the tracking isn't as good and becomes sporadic. This makes sense as you don't want to run someone else's phone out of power by tracking them!

Find My worked fine with People on iOS and iPadOS 15.0 and 15.0.1. The Live view worked great. Find My hardly works at all with iOS and iPadOS 15.1. It only picks up a person’s location maybe 2% of the time now. Awful. 12ProMax.

Not only is it broken, but in the last 24 hours “Find My” has been draining my battery. I haven’t opened the app in days and I know I’ve rebooted once since using it.

Find My People seems to be working again this morning and the iPhone software hasn’t been updated. I’m suspecting this was an Apple server issue that had been fixed. Can’t think of any changes to settings that I made that may have affected this. It’s now working on my iPads, too.

Hopefully whatever they changed will stop the sudden onslaught of background activity.
