Find my Mac, one works one doesn't?

Looking for any help here.

In my home,
MBA 13" 2011 on Wifi to airport extreme
MacMini 2011 on Hardwired to airport extreme

If i use find my iPhone on iCloud.com it shows both my mini and my air as findable devices, but my mini can't be located and my Air can, instantly.

The only difference I can find is under security & privacy on my air, safari shows as something that is enabled for location services, on my mini it's not, but I don't see why this should matter since when you enable "Find My Mac" in the iCloud prefpane it asks if you would like to allow location services.

Both machines are on, and signed into and sync with the same iCloud account.

Location services are enabled. I do have little snitch, but nothing in there is blocking anything for iCloud.

as a side note, my old iPad is still on there too and no matter how many times I click the X next to it to get rid of it, it doesn't get rid of it.

Well, I figured it out. Quickly thankfully...

My question was answered by enabling wifi on my Mini and connecting to my Airport that way rather than hardwired. Lame that it doesn't work over a hard wired connection.

Literally as soon as I turned on wifi little snitch asked about allowing a connection for findmyiphone service or something of that nature, so it ONLY works when a device is on wifi, not hardwired.

So you couldn't get it to work unless you turned Wi-Fi on? That is so damn stupid! I've been having the same issues as you. Find My Mac is enabled on my Mac mini, but iCloud never locates the damn thing. I have Wi-Fi off on it, as I use a Ethernet connection for overall better LAN speeds. I'll try switching on Wi-Fi.

EDIT 1: Tried switching on Wi-Fi and tried to get location in iCloud, but it wasn't discovered. Dammit.

EDIT 2: Never got it to work on Ethernet, or on Wi-Fi. This is ridiculous. I guess I'll just use MacKeeper's Anti-Theft system for now.

I have just spent 10 mins trying to get this to work when it just twigged. Just create a new rule in little snitch,

application: browser (chrome/safari/firefox etc)
server:hostname
hostname:www.icloud.com
port:any
protocol:any
enabled:checked

and now create a second only this time make server:domain with domain:www.icloud.com

It requires WiFi to work. Not sure why it does not work for you but it would never worked without WiFi on. Oh, do you also have Ethernet still on? Maybe that is it.
