Hi everyone,

I have a general question regarding the Find my App in combination with AirPods.
- My AirPods are only shown in the app when they are connected to my iPhone. When they are stored away they don’t show up.
- My mom‘s AirPods broke some time ago but they still show up all the time in the Find my app (we have family sharing set up).

My question: How is this supposed to be? Should the AirPods show up at any time or just when they are connected?

EDIT: My AirPods also show up when they are NOT connected as long as they are e. g. out of their case. When they are inside their case and it’s closed they don’t show up.

My AirPods Pro always shows in the Find my App whether connected or disconnected. However, if they are disconnected, the location shown is only when they were last connected with an apple device and that may not be their current location.
For example, if I last used the AirPods at work, travel home and not connect the AirPods again, the Find my app will show my AirPods at my work location.

Okay, I edited a part in the original post as clarification: So your AirPods also show up when the case is closed and the AirPods are inside?

That's correct and I assumed you meant that.
Thanks for confirming. Then I guess it's just a bit bugged for me. I just tried again and at least half an hour later after being put back in the case they still show up. Maybe the bug somehow fixed itself. Let's see :)

I forgot to say that I'm on 14.2 b1 and I'm not sure which OS version you are on. I don't think it matters for Find my but you never know.
Hopefully it stays fixed for you.
