I have an external drive linked to one iMac running Sierra. From another iMac on the network, when I try to copy a file to that drive I get a warning message, even though the file did not exist on the target drive:
If I select Replace (or Keep Both) it starts making multiple copies on the target drive. I have to force-quit Finder then delete all those files.
It also happens if I try to copy to another external drive on that iMac.
This is an old iMac that has lived through numerous OSX upgrades so I suspect it is a legacy issue - maybe some mirroring setting gone wrong?
