I installed an extra 16gb ram into my 2020 iMac 27". Since then, a couple of hours ago, I have had to relaunch Finder three times when it just locks up. It never locked up before. The iMac was 8gb and I installed the two 8gb sticks into the vacant slots. Have I got faulty ram or is there likely another cause? Any thanks for any help

Try pulling the original 8 and restarting. I had purchased some OWC RAM that was not compatible with the Apple RAM the iMac shipped with.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that but still the same. However I then wondered if it was anything to do with "Desktop Clock+" that I installed earlier today. I have uninstalled that and so far it seems back to normal so maybe it was nothing to do with the ram after all. Fingers crossed.

Desktop Clock + is from the App Store, and has good reviews. It has not, however, been updated in over a year. That might not matter since it’s just a clock.

You’ve removed it and the problem went away. It’s easy to install/uninstall App Store apps. So reinstall it and see what happens.

All’s been great since I removed it and to be honest I’m not that bothered about having a clock. Only tried it as it was recommended on YouTube by Macmost who I follow.
