I installed Monterey on my M1 MacBook Air (2020) and now any time I ask Siri to open a folder or even open Finder it says "finder hasn't added support for that with siri".

Any idea how to fix this?

Even My iMac 2019 Monterey has the same Problem !

I really hope i this works soon ! I called Apple and they dont know why this is happening.

In Siri - things to say - it gives examples of commands and the first one being...

Say - Show the Downloads folder -
and then same error shows up !

Frustrating !

I’ll mention in one of the point releases for Big Sur they removed the ability to ask about Mac specific questions such as “How much free space do I have on my Mac?” which is also listed on https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206993

When I first got my MacBook Air in April and installed 11.2.3 on it, that worked. Some time later it resulted in a “sorry I can’t do that here” response and has been broken ever since.

That was a minor annoyance. This is a major one.

On a related note, I’ve also found searching for photos with Siri doesn’t work either. It either searches the web for images or simply opens the Photo app to the last view. “Show my photos from yesterday”, another item on that web page, does the later. It does the same thing on iOS devices.

It’s like they are slowly removing all the Siri integration with devices.

I reached out to Apple support on Twitter and they said Macs don’t support that feature. WTF?

Have you tried adding a specific shortcut that could potentially execute those commands? I got annoyed with the same problems as well. I'm gonna try to find a way with shortcuts, maybe with apple scripting to see if it'll grant access to siri
There’s other requests listed on that page that haven’t worked since 11.3 like “How much free space do I have on my Mac?”

Monterey seems to have broke some Apple scripting scripts that I had. I’ve found Shortcuts to be hit or miss.

Siri is a 10 year embarrassment for Apple. Their support page still lists a series of very simple actions that Siri is supposed to be able to so, but that my $4000 2021 MacBook Pro cannot execute. https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT206993

Not to mention, Siri regularly become unavailable and the only way I can get it to work again is by toggling the function on and off in System Prefs.

A joke.

Same problem here, M1 iMac, 16GB RAM.

But its not just finder not working with Siri. For fun I asked Siri every single question that Apple listed here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206993

guess what: only only 5 out of 13 worked.

But more and more I ask my self: What is the point of Siri on the Mac. Like is it useful at all? Except from Start or Stop music, or changing the volume, I don't really see a USEFUL use case of having Siri on the Mac. Why has it fallen soooo much behind Siri on iOS.

Way out in space
I though maybe it was just me until I searched for a solution to this problem.

They appear to have removed a large chunk of Siri's capabilities on the Mac, either by accident or on purpose, but have neglected to reflect that change in the official list of features. I mean, its not like Siri was all that functional to begin with, but now it's little more than an icon in the Applications folder.

Strange things are going on at Apple these days.

I installed 12.2.1 in an external and same thing is happening. I have never used Siri before on a mc so I never noticed. Probably not a big deal because I don't use Siri anyway normally. I just double click on the drive with my mouse. No need to use Siri.

Cool that it is not a big deal for you! However others use their macs differently to you, and it still sucks for them if the functions they are used to are currently not working…

I just tried it on my new M2 MacBook Air and no joy. It was weird though as the Siri graphic came up on the MacBook, but my HomePod mini responded that it couldn't do it.

Yep still doesn’t work in Ventura which leads me to believe this was done on purpose. Why Apple would do that is beyond me.

The Mac Siri support page doesn’t even mention what you can use Siri for now other than “asking questions”.

I’ve basically come to the conclusion that Apple made Siri on Mac work the same as it does on an iPhone. Less though since you can’t find photos on a Mac with Siri.

Yes, same I am also facing the same issue. I was not facing this type of issue earlier, recently only apple might have edited Siri features.
