This has been a recurring problem. My finder is slower than it should be in responding. I'll click on a folder or a file and it will take 1-2 seconds not instantaneous like it should be and it lags when I try to click and drag a folder or file. Then my fans slowly kick on and cpu level spikes for a moment. The only way to remedy the problem is to restart the computer and then it's okay until I hop on the next day which I leave it on over night. Is there an exact culprit for this issue? I'm running 10.6.8

Repair the disk permissions in disk utility and then verify the disc. If it can't repair all the permissions while the disk is mounted repair the permissions again off the SL boot DVD disk utility. Verify the disc again whilst on the boot disc while it's unmounted. If it needs repairing chances are the hard drive is starting to slow up and fail when it gets hot.

well I can't see it as being my drives failing because I just recently in the past months installed two new 840 pro's setup in raid 0 for OS drive. I repair and verify them all the time and there always seems that there are permissions that need fixing. Could this have anything to do with the garbage collection building up because I can't run trim enabler on SL?

link on the page is 404'd

I may have it somewhere stashed away. It's version 1.0 you need, you could always leave a message with the dev if I can't find it. Think it was a bit buggy though.

Best to upgrade though to at least lion for more complete trim support..

I found some newer links.

is Trim implemented in Lion or is that just Mavericks? or what you're saying is trim enabler is more supported for Lion? I've been avoiding updating because I still would like to keep Rosetta.

Lion onwards for solid trim support. Only ones I know who like to have Rosetta really keep SL mostly for Final Cut Pro below X!

I just remembered wether or not it is possible to use trim while using raid? can anyone confirm this?
