13" M1 MBP on BigSur 11.6 : I was using finder last night to look through a bunch of old photos and then upload a variety of them to a cloud backup. This entailed me scrolling through each photo and seeing what it looked it like in the Finder preview, then either deleting, drag and drop to my browser, or moving on. All in all I probably looked at 1000 photos? When I finished up Finder was using around 4.5GB of memory in the Activity Monitor (forgot to grab a screenshot) and memory pressure was solidly in the yellow. I let it sit overnight, but memory didn't clear up on it's own. I relaunched Finder from the Force Quit menu, and that worked to clear up the memory. Note - the laptop was still usable even with the memory pressure, but I wouldn't expect Finder to hang on to that much memory once all the activity had stopped (I had even closed the Finder window I had been using to browse the photos).

Known issue? How do I report to Apple?

Thanks. I've submitted the info there, but it felt very much like sending the info into a black hole where it might never been seen. Here's hoping someone looks at it and the problem is addressed.

There’s another thread on the memory leak, so Apple knows this and has been reported by a number of members. So I should be looked at at some point. MacOS Monterey has them to below if interested
