Hey there folks. i have had a macbook for about 6 months now with very minimal problems, but i have just come across one that is bugging me quite a lot.
i have all my h/d backed up on dvd (philips dvd+rw)
i inserted the dvd into the superdrive, but for some reason the content doesn't seem to load properly when accessed in the finder.
it is quite bizarre to be honest...when the cd icon appears on desktop i click it, and it shows the main folder which the contents are inside, but this folder is just empty.
i have roxio toast 8 installed, so i booted that up and it showed all the content no problem.
i right clicked on one of the sub folders from my dvd in toast and then clicked 'reveal in finder' and it showed that folder in the finder ok, but no others.
this therefore proves it is a fault in finder, or some part of my os, and not the dvd itself. this statement is also backed up as i have tried it with all my dvd's and no luck with any in the finder.
i also went to my neighbours to test the dvd on a windows machine and it loaded fine.
i also know this is a recent fault as the dvd's showed fine in my finder when i first bought the macbook.
i installed the 'SuperDrive Firmware Update 2.1' from apple after i saw the problem to see if this fixed it....but it didn't.
does anyone know what is going on here, or have a solution?
if it helps in your response, i initially created the dvd on a windows xp laptop.
help would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks,
tom
