On a second attempt clean install of macOS Sierra (wiped and installed a second time to try and correct the following issue...), I am seeing a slow Finder. Not at first use, but as use continues, over say 10 - 15 minutes.

On checking Activity Monitor I am seeing over 100% CPU on the Finder process.

I'm guessing this is an early doors bug in the release of Sierra. Anyone else seeing this or able to offer suggestions for fixing it.

Might be indexing? Can you search for something in Spotlight and see if it shows 'Indexing' under the search?

Tried again after leaving it over night. And still the same thing. However, it only seems to slow when I am in the User Library?

It's been a long time since I looked on this. But yes the same issue is still happening. Especially in the Finder sidebar, when I have been using Finder excessively. CPU is spiking over 100% and the grey selections are slow to follow the pointer click...? Is this just me.... on a third time clean install OS?

I have the same problem and have submitted the bug through the Apple developer bug tracker. Was hoping it'd be fixed by now, but guess not. If you haven't ALSO submitted the bug to Apple I'd strongly suggest you do so since they can only pay attention to & fix what they've heard about.

FWIW it has been an issue in each .0 release of the last few macOS versions and it has often taken 3-4 months and a few revisions to fix each time. Not sure what kind of change they keep putting in that causes this.

Thanks for getting back and confirming that it is common place. I was beginning to think it was just me.

It looks like I'm stuck with it until it is fixed.

[doublepost=1478035938][/doublepost]FYI a simple Finder force-quit will resolve it for a while without having to go through a complete reboot cycle.

Yeah, I did notice that. I have Quit in Finder's menu enabled, for that exact reason. Bit of a bugger though. Sitting it out, but it is very frustrating.

Fully agree.

I did a little back-tracking and noticed that I'd reported this as far back as 10.9.0. They've fixed it before so hopefully they'll fix it again.

Just an update to say that the problem still exists after a fresh install to a brand-new 2016 15" Touchbar MacBook Pro. Here's hoping they fix it soon!

Hmmmmm..... I raised a bug report and got "duplicate" back from Engineering. I'm guessing they are working on it.

Too early to tell. For me it typically takes a few days for the sluggishness to really get bad.
