Hello guys.

I would like to sort my files in folders so that all the folders are above the other files and I don't want to have sort by group.

I have tried using CMD+J to select sort by type (might be sort by kind according to some google results), but the problem is that sort by type doesn't save, so the next time I enter the folder, the sort option is put right back to sort by name.

The weird thing is that if I put it to something else, like sort by last edited/changed, it is saved and it works like it should.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Does anyone else know how to fix it?

Thanks ^_^

In a quick test, Sort By: Kind does get saved for me. When I open the folder again, it's still sorted by "Kind" with the folders on top.

I'm running Monterey 12.6.3. What version of macOS are you running?

That is weird!

Ventura 13.2

I'm sure I didn't have this problem with Monterey and I'm almost sure it wasn't a problem in the beginning with Ventura, but I'm not sure when it changed. I have also been busy with school + work, so it might be a Ventura thing and I just didn't notice.

I'm unable to duplicate the issue.…macOS 13.2…a quick test with my Downloads folder.

EDIT: Did you try in a new, test User Account?

I just tried this. It's the same problem on that account.

I don't have the same problem on my iMac, though.

Most of the stuff is the same on both Macs, but on my Macbook (where the problem is) I did a fresh install Ventura, but on my Macbook I upgraded it from Monterey.

So now I know I'm doing it correctly, since my iMac saves the changes done to "sort by"

Got any other suggestions I could try to look for where the problem might be?
