a gasping dying planet
Just got a new Mac mini and it has sequoia preinstalled. haven't used sequoia yet. so, some of the new changes in the os are frustrating. top among them now:

when I open a folder within a currently open finder window, it opens in a new window. why?! why can't it just open in the same finder window like apple has done for the past 20 years.

also, why does the toolbar disappear and I have to go to the menu bar --> view to show it every time?! again, apple changing the way things have always worked for no reason. when opening folders within folders within folders, etc. I DO NOT WANT a new window open every time. it's such a headache and mess to deal with on the screen.

Folders automatically open in a new window when the toolbar is disabled. That's why it happens to you. That's how it always worked. (All this stuff isn't exactly intuitive).

I'm not sure why new windows open without a toolbar for you. Once you enable the toolbar, the next new window should also open with the toolbar. I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions.
